|Event Detail|| Although we have not yet completely overcome COVID-19, we are moving forward after COVID-19 in Japan and the rest of the world. Currently, the number of COVID-19 cases in Japan remains high, and the situation in June of 2023 is still unpredictable. However, rather than staying in a mood of fear and self-restraint, we have decided to move forward and hold the on-site CTO Club in 2023 as same as before. Due to the new coronavirus pandemic, we have given up on hosting the CTO Club in 2020 and have hosted the conference on the website in 2021 and 2022. During these times, the CTO-PCI has achieved steady progress.
Although the success rate of CTO-PCI is now beyond 90% according to the data from the CTO Japanese expert registry, there are still challenges to overcome, such as highly calcified lesions, bending lesions and long lesions. The success rate of cases successfully treated with retrograde channel tracking is very high and satisfactory. However, the success rate for cases in which the retrograde approach is difficult, is still unsatisfactory. In Japan, techniques to improve the performance of the antegrade approach are now gaining prominence. The real-time IVUS-guided wiring technique (TD method) was introduced with the birth of the new IVUS (AnteOwl), and with the growing experience, recently, the antegrade dissection and re-entry (ADR) using the TD method has been introduced as well as the Stingray. Furthermore, the antegrade approach with the perpendicular view (PPV) method, etc. seems to be entering a new world.
At this year's CTO Club, we hope that we can introduce and disseminate new technologies and techniques from Japan to overcome challenges based on our accumulated experience and various approaches.
